CREATION OF THE PRAYER HOUSE IN HOBART 2006 – A personal account.

In Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, in February 2006, somthing truly beautiful and wonderful happened. the story is so important to tell because it helps to point to the incredible beauty – Love of True Source…how undeniably giving and complete it is and how when we really rely on it, wonderful things can happen.

It began as ‘just’ a series of workshops in Hobart. Even from the outset it was clear that a greater awareness was at work within the room. There was realisation around the fact that workshops are never about the level, but are always about the journey of the heart, and that learning is happening all the time. Our hearts are given the chance to open whenever we surrender, whether it’s doing the washing, a Level 2 workshop, or at a True Self Retreat.

Over the 4-days the workshops were being held, we had a meeting about the proposed Prayer House. This has been a vision held and grown as the Love has grown within alumni. I think we all had a view that it would be built on some beautiful bushland owned by Kent and Amanda, about 20 minutes out of Hobart (the word ‘owning’ doesn’t seem right, it’s more they hold the land as custodians. They are also custodians of the building where all the workshops occur in Hobart itself). Part of the vision for the Prayer House land has been that there might be living quarters of some sort to allow people to stay there…but there was problem trying to access the land through a neighbouring property. We needed permission. Here was one of many lessons…don’t focus on problems!

At the meeting it was clear that we needed to discuss many things, so we started to make a detailed Agenda. Just when we were about to lose ourselves in the detail, someone suggested we begin with a prayer. In the prayer Kent asked on behalf of us all, for a Prayer House, “exactly the way you intend it to be”. It was a simple but profound act of surrendering of Hearts because none of our minds really believed that the Prayer House would be anywhere but on that land!

I think at that moment we began to more fully realise the prupose of a Prayer House…to Love True Source more!!…So we also began to understand the difference between:

1. Building a Prayer House and

2. Creating a Prayer House to Love the True Source more.

The first statement is so limited while the second is all about relying on the Love and trusting True Source!

The next day was a workshop – 3A. Most participants were repeating and there were 2 or 3 new people who were doing it for the first time. It was beautiful as all workshops are, and as always, a unique mix of people. Something like 10-12 people…a small group.

The energy in the room was beautiful. Towards the end, Vincent was explaining about the spiritual dimensions of Reiki Tummo. About being in the Love…our connection to it, and that we are actually a part of it and are connected to each other…”Feel this” he said and moved his arm. You could feel the waves of energy as we kind of merged into one interconnecting spirit.

Something miraculous was happening. It’s virtually impossible to describe, but for me it was like the dozens of previously held workshops in the room had all played a part in the frequency of the room reaching this point. All the surrendering and transformation of people, the opening of hearts, had reached this mighty crescendo at this one point in time…like there was no time separating any of  those previous events.

People were speaking way beyond themselves. Like we were all channelling – in words, thoughts and feeling – the Love within the room. Someone who had just walked in said that the room felt like Love…and that they had felt it two blocks away. Someone else said that it felt like we were all sitting on the petals of a lotus. They also mentioned that this moment felt like an affirming moment after many months of uncertainy because they had began to lose a sense of who they were. Now suddenly their true identity was becoming very clear!

If it were possible for a room to attain Yoga, that’s how I would describe what happened! The whole enrgy just leapt to a level where I felt transported back to the Prayer House in Bali. People were collapsing prostrate. The Blessing was intense, gentl, glorious…indescribable.

Our prayer from the night before had been realised; a Prayer House, chosen by True Source!!

The importance of being grateful for everything always is so beautifully captured by this statement attributed to Christ:

“Therefore I tell you, all things whatever you pray and ask for, believe that you have recieved them, and you shall have them.”

We never doubted a prayer house would happen, we just didn’t know that it would arrive so beautifully. It all happened through surrender and relying on the Love.

Doing it in practise has been a wonderful learning journey.
